By Linda Freund — Church Intern
At Erie UMC we love our children and are thrilled with the growing numbers of children who are joining us on Sunday mornings. We take seriously our baptism vows and want to do our part as a congregation to help them feel safe and loved. To make sure we keep our children safe at church we request background checks on every adult (paid or volunteer) who works with our children and youth. We offer several programs for our children:
Children and Youth Summer Sunday School
We will be transforming our Summer Sunday School for the Children and Youth. Most churches give their Education teachers and alternates a rest for the summer, and in honor of that and also wanting to continue to support the children and youth within the church, we will adjust in this way.
We would greatly appreciate volunteers to be with the kids during the Sunday School 9:30-10:20
time frame. There will not be a curriculum but a simple planned activity. One volunteer will handle a combined age of the elementary and middle school, some HS too could be helpers. We envision that much of this will be recreation activities outside with a beginning prayer or mission minute.
NEW Youth Program "TNT"!
We are beginning monthly activities for youth ages 13 and older the second Sunday of each month. Our new monthly youth group began with Gen Bachelder, Susie Glennen, Scott Glennen, Nathan McAdams, Ian McAdams, and Michael Pelser and his friend Justin having food and fun at Gunther Toodys with Pastors Jim and Linda. We are off to a great start with a new name selected by the youth—“TNT”. With a name like
that we are expecting to have an explosive and unpredictable group! This month we will be coming up with a list of activities that will make this a fun group with things you want to do, not stuff your parents think up! Meet at church on Sunday, August 10th at 5:00 p.m.
We hope to see you soon! Linda Freund |
