Summertime… and the livin’ is easy…. These words of an old song sound so nice and nostalgic, but Erie UMC members have been keeping on…..keeping on! Praying for special folks, celebrating special events, working at the OUR Center, delivering Meals On Wheels, volunteering at the Windsor Tornado Distribution Center, landscaping at Coal Creek Park and Thomas Reservoir along with Lifesong Church, working on a Habitat for Humanity house in Alamosa, raising money for disaster relief at the Town Fair and much more.
- Upcoming event to lift up: NOTHING BUT NETS-Local U.M.churches are asked to raise funds along with the Nat’l Basketball Ass’n and the U.N. Foundation to buy malaria nets at $10 apiece. Our goal is $1,000! We’ll be kicking off our effort at VBS.. Let’s see what we can do!
- ANNUAL CONFERENCE MISSION GIVING –The Bridge of Love for Angola-Our loose change went into “the pot” and all of the loose change from around our conference added up to $9,021.86! That fund is purchasing food supplies and seeds for a Methodist School in Angola.
- Rebuilding Hartzell UMC in Louisiana from Hurricane Katrina destruction-$1947.19.
- Supplementing UM pastors’ salary in Russia-$2,080.80.
- U.M. Global Aids Fund-$3,003.66.
- Remember our Food Banks! They need canned goods and pasta entrees! Also now is the time when school supplies are really cheap in the stores. Some of our Erie students’ families will struggle to provide all of the items on the school list. Pick up some pencils, erasers, crayons, spiral notebooks, etc. and put them in the Back to School Box in the Fellowship Hall.
God doesn’t take the summer off, and neither did members of Erie UMC. Praise God!
