Connect Worship:
In many Christian circles, it’s been said that people need to believe like us and become like us, and then, they can belong to us. Believe. Become. Belong. However, the heart of the Gospel of Christ is that God loves and accepts each one of us, just as we are. We belong to God. If Christ loves unconditionally, why doesn’t his church?
The purpose of Erie UMC’s Connect service is to reach out and offer community to those in the Erie area, regardless of what you believe. We are all on a spiritual journey, seeking a connection with the Holy, and seeking fellow travelers who will hold us up when we fall, and urge us on to greater heights when we are afraid to strain for more. We recognize that most people are spiritual, but very few are religious. Most people desire a connection with God but find much of what churches offer today to be unappealing and uninspiring. We agree. We believe that Christianity is an invitation from Christ to abide in his unconditional love, to journey with him, to open ourselves up to God’s transformation, and to share his love with others.
By employing modern technology and fresh music to present the faith in new ways, we are making faith relevant and reaching out to seekers who do not connect with traditional ways of worship. In all we do at Erie UMC we seek to create an atmosphere of community and fellowship where all are welcome, all belong. Come connect with God and with each other.
