Volunteer Opportunities

The Erie United Methodist Church has a mission that tells who we are – Growing in Christ to serve others

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The members of our church believe that each of us is called to participate in the outreaching ministry of Jesus Christ.

Putting our faith into action is at the very heart of our Christian calling. By volunteering through programs listed below every person in our church has the opportunity to serve and to live their calling.

Erie UMC is proud to support the following organizations…

Love by Hand is a lively group of knitters and crocheters who craft to benefit various organizations, including Meals on Wheels, A Precious Child, Safe Shelter of St Vrain Valley, and more!

Love by Hand meets Monday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 in our fellowship hall,

All are welcome, yarn and patterns provided, and they will even teach you how to knit/crochet!

Contact our church office for more info!

We are proud supporters of the Wounded Warrior Project! Every spring and summer volunteers from the congregation teach a group of wounded warriors from Colorado Springs to fly fish in the beautiful ponds and reservoirs in Erie.

United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) comes alongside those who suffer from natural or human-caused disasters – be it famine, hurricane, war, flood, fire or other events—to alleviate suffering and to be a source of help and hope for those left most vulnerable. They provide relief, response and long-term recovery grants when these events overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on their own. UMCOR also provides technical support and training for partners to address emerging and ongoing issues related to disaster relief, recovery, and long-term health and development.

Ganta Hospital, Liberia

Serving a rural, financially-struggling community in north Africa, Ganta Hospital provides quality affordable healthcare. Erie UMC is proud to support them and their subsistence farmering community.

Albert Willicor, Jr

Currently attending dental school, Albert Willicor, Jr plans to serve Ganta Hospital upon graduation. (He will be the only dentist in a 90-kilometer radius.) He was inspired by his father, Dr. Albert Willicor, who served Ganta Hospital for decades.

OUR Center
Of Longmont

An important part of our mission is to serve locally. OUR Center offers a wide variety of opportunities to which we contribute - from food donations to short- and long-term volunteering efforts.

Habitat for Humanity
of the St. Vrain Valley

Whether they swing hammers, wield paint brushes or serve meals to hungry volunteers, our members have supported Habitat for Humanity on a number of projects.

Coal Creek
Meals on Wheels

Our volunteers deliver high-quality meals every weekday to individuals of various dispositions, including the elderly, disabled, and those limited in physical capacity due to illness.

In addition, we raise funds and assemble holiday baskets for senior citizens.

Sister Carmen
Food Bank

Non-perishable items are collected and donated to the Sister Carmen Center, as well.

The Family Resource Center is a critical resource for individuals and families in need of supportive services such as food, clothing, heat and housing assistance.

Boulder County
Crop Hunger Walk

The Boulder County Crop Hunger Walk takes place every October as a part of a nationwide effort to raise funds to help alleviate hunger and poverty here in the United States and internationally.

Warren Village

Warren Village exists to help low income single parent families achieve personal and economic self-sufficiency—and to sustain it.

Our support includes providing funds and household items to help single parents who are dedicated to improving their lives.
